Overview

Note that the setup for parotid sialendoscopy is the same as that for submandibular sialendoscopy. The tower is positioned at the patient's right knee and the microscope closer to their head. Whether the surgery is for a right or a left gland, the tower and the base of scope are always positioned on the right as per images ("Gallery").

Note that "sialendoscopy-only" cases (without incisions) employ limited draping of microscope ("Gallery").

Before draping the microscope it should be positioned to ensure the draping permits appropriate range of movement with the base left in place - which may require using it initially from the patients left side (as for cannulating the right parotid duct) and then moving to the microscope (but not moving the base) to the patients right side to use with an open ductoplasty (as per photos).
